State Mineral and Energy Board Holds June Meeting
Mineral Lease Sale Brings Approximately $2.3 millionBATON ROUGE – The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.
The Board collected more than $2.3 million in bonuses in the June sale, bringing the total collected for FY 10-11 to more than $43.4 million. For the calendar year, the total is more than $21.7 million.
At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 24 leases covering more than 2,800 acres, out of 49 nominated tracts covering more than 40,000 acres.
The Board sold leases in Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Bienville, Bossier, Cameron, Concordia, DeSoto, East Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lafourche, Plaquemines, St. Charles, St. Martin and Terrebonne parishes. Of the 24 tracts awarded, eight were in north Louisiana and 16 were located in the southern parishes.
