State to announce Terrebonne Parish project at public hearing
La. Department of Natural Resources Secretary Scott Angelle will announce the commencement of the Houma Navigation Canal Lock Complex project in Terrebonne parish on Thursday, October 25th at 5 pm.
Secretary Angelle will make a presentation at the Joint Legislative Special Committee on Coastal Restoration and Flood Control public hearing to be held at the LUMCON facility at 8124 Highway 56 in Cocodrie. The Terrebonne Levee and Conservation District will enter into a contractual agreement to build the $43 million lock project with funds from the state’s capital outlay surplus and CIAP funding.
This hurricane protection project will combat saltwater intrusion problems that have affected this area and is a critical component of the Morganza to the Gulf of Mexico project now awaiting Congressional authorization.
