Mineral and Energy Board brings $2.7 million in May
The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge.
The Board collected more than $2.7 million in bonuses in the May sale, bringing the total collected for FY 10-11 to more than $41 million. For the calendar year, the total is more than $19.3 million.
At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 17 leases covering more than 9,996 acres, out of 25 nominated tracts covering more than 16,000 acres.
The Board sold leases in Acadia, Ascension, Cameron, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, Vernon and West Feliciana parishes. Of the 17 tracts awarded, one was in north Louisiana and sixteen were located in the southern parishes.
