City of Plaquemine and DNR Sign Agreement for Park
Plaquemine Mayor Tony Gulotta and officials with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today signed an agreement for the development of the Plaquemine Waterfront Park.
The signing was also attended by state Rep. Emma Devillier (Plaquemine), DNR Deputy Secretary Katherine Vaughan, and Atchafalaya Basin Program Director Sandra Thompson.
The Plaquemine Waterfront Park development program, designed by landscape architect Patrick C. Moore, includes an overhead gateway structure connected to a decorative fence, an entrance drive and parking courts, concrete walkways, picnic pavilion with overlook terrace, and a children's recreation area. Legislative officials including Senator Rob Marionneaux said the park is partially funded by the ABP and is expected to take three months for Phase One completion. The waterfront park will also have open space seating, site furnishings, interpretive signage, park lighting and landscaping.
The Plaquemine Waterfront Park is a cost-share project totaling $1.2 million.
