Court decides oil and gas revenue belongs to state

In a recent appellant court decision, the State of Louisiana stands to receive over $5.3 million of past oil and gas revenue, plus future oil and gas production from a land-ownership dispute case in Cameron Parish. State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officials said in February, the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal reversed an earlier district court opinion that awarded private landowners oil production revenues.

TWO RECENT REPORTS HELP EXPLAIN COASTAL ACTIVITIES IN STATE

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has released two reports this month from its Office of Coastal Restoration and Management. Both hardback reports have been distributed by mail to key government officials and others involved in coastal protection and restoration work in the state.
